Setting Concepts:

Zaiphon - in short, 07-Ghost universe magic, supposedly originating from God, though who knows exactly. There are three types of Zaiphon: attack Zaiphon, healing Zaiphon, and Manipulation Zaiphon. Zaiphon is a hereditary ability and it's quite rare in the world. The fact that it's so rare is probably also the reason why people who wield Zaiphon can become an elite military personnel in Barsburg army - it's not something that just anyone is able to do. (Yukikaze has Manipulation Zaiphon, though he's not very skilled with it, comparatively, so most of his fellow soldiers who don't know him well assume he just has Attack Zaiphon. Because it's very easy to hurt people by using Manipulation Zaiphon without expertise.)

Three Dreams – every soul makes three Dreams / Wishes before God just before the start of their life in this world. The purpose of life is to discover and fulfil these three Dreams. Those who do so go back to Heaven, and then have an option to reincarnate, with three new Dreams of their own choosing. (Also, the souls who go to Heaven turn into pretty feathers in the moment of death, just fyi. And nope, it's probably impossible to catch any such feathers, sorry.)

Verloren – God’s most perfect creation, as he was called. A God of Death. He had been banished from Heavens for the crime of killing the Overseer of Heaven’s (God’s) daughter, Eve.

Seven Ghosts – seven entities made by God from pieces of Verloren, who stopped and sealed Verloren.

Kor – skeletal winged creatures under Verloren’s control that grant people’s Dreams and turn them, after fulfiling their Dreams, into beings known as Wars.

Warsfeil – sorcerers with dark powers, people who command Warses and who serve Verloren – well, it’s sort of a hereditary thing, in Warsfeil families,
though sometimes one can be born a normal human being even in a Warsfeil family and get ostracised by his family for that (see: Hyuuga’s Begleiter Konatsu Warren. And this Yukikaze, too, because in my headcanon for this he's a normal human child born in Warsfeil family - family, who, apart from his normal human mother, was executed at the time when Yukikaze was two - three years old.).

Begleiter – an assistant / secretary /overall helper to a higher ranked military officer

Raggs Kingdom – the Kingdom that had the Eye of Michael, one of two Stones housing the two Archangels and their powers.

Barsburg Empire – the main setting of the story, the Empire that has the Eye of Raphael, see above.

The Eye of Michael - the Stone housing the powers of Archangel Michael, used to protect Raggs Kingdom, show the true King of Raggs, and also to seal Verloren's original physical body in Pandora's Box. (Pandora's Box has always been, before the events of the manga, an item, it's not originally supposed to be a human like in prince Tiashe's (Teito's) case. That was quite an abnormal use and if not for Michael's protection, well, Verloren's body would have been unsealed very, very quickly.)

The Eye of Raphael – the Stone housing the powers of Archangel Raphael (and Raph himself), used ages ago to seal the memories of Verloren’s human reincarnations through the ages. It belongs to Barsburg royalty, inherited through female line, apparently (well, in generations we're shown, at least).

Personality (headcanon, which is almost all of it, in italics)

Unlike some children born in Warsfeil families and considered cursed by their whole, or almost whole, families because of it, Yukikaze was 'blessed' to be born an ordinary child even with a Warsfeil fathers and siblings. Considered 'blessed by God' in the eyes of his beloved mother, that is. Due to the fact that there's always a lot of snow in Raggs Kingdom, his mother's first thought was to just name the baby 'Yuki', one of popular names in Raggs Kingdom. Actually, she did name him that, he just got bored of sharing the name with plenty of other Yukis by the time he was three years old. Which is why, if he was to have a nickname, he'd prefer for it to be 'Kaze', not 'Yuki'. He's not quite sure why he loved the wind when he was a child - maybe it just made him think that if he was a wind, he'd be able to go to Heavens someday, like his mother wanted him to do.

If one asked Yukikaze about his own personality, and if he's gotten past saying faux modestly: well, my personality's nothing special, ask about some more interesting Black Hawks I'd gotten to know recently... and if he'd be for some reason inclined to answer honestly, he'd have said that his virtue and major flaw is the fact that he's just a very simple and naive human being. And while he knows that not everyone would agree, the reason he'd have said it - if, for some reason, he liked you enough to be sincere - is because he sees the world in black and white and he knows that. He tried to change that when he was a teenager, but then he's realised that if he didn't see the world in black and white... why, then, he may as well commit suicide or something, because there would be no joy in his life at all. Seeing the world in white and black, doesn't, to Yukikaze, mean seeing things as 'good' and 'evil', as it does to some children and childish people. No, that's not it at all. Instead, Yukikaze sees the world in two shades: he sees and considers people, events, places, things as 'mine' and 'that guy's', and by 'that guy', he means God, namely the Overseer of Heavens. Besides, he wanted to belong to Overseer of Heavens once, but that guy never said that he wants Yukikaze to belong to him and that, by the same token, he would belong to Yukikaze. That's how Yukikaze sees it, at least. And so, he's no longer interested in being God's man, as he wanted to be when he was three or four years old, if only for the sake of saving his own skin, back then.

No, Yukikaze found another God for himself instead, one that is his, that is, one that, in Yukikaze's heart, belongs to him - mutually. The reason who found his god - who, back than, was a human, that human's ancient memories still sealed by the Eye of Raphael - was because of Yukikaze's second defining characteristic, stiffled thourough his childhood on his mother's orders, so that he'd avoid execution - and blossoming fully upon finding a certain third Prince of Raggs, Krowell, who'd later in Barsburg be named Ayanami - that second difining characteristic, when stripped of polite pretending to be not too interested in anything - was boundless curiosity, one that is natural for children, and one that may make Kaze a bit childish, because as a child, he could give no outlet to said curiosity.

Yukikaze wants to know everything there is to know, even though he knows that's impossible to achieve. Especially if something seems particulary fascinating. And so, when upon the visit to Raggs Palace, he first saw the royal family's photo, he couldn't help being particularly curious about the third Prince of Raggs, Krowell-sama. Why did Krowell's eyes look half empty, to Kaze, even though Krowell-sama was no Warsfeil? (Back then, he wasn't, Krowell'd become one after Empress Dahlia used the Eye of Raphael to break the Seal.) Just why? That was the moment in which Yukikaze, still a child, decided to become third prince's personal servant in order to find out. And as Yukikaze was a stubborn child, and later a stubborn teenager, he's managed to achieve his goal, even though it meant first almost dying as Krowell thought Yukikaze was some assassin. (Well, Yukikaze did sneak into Krowell's bedroom at night, so he never blamed Krowell-sama for such reaction and deduction.) Still, even after such bad first meeting,
Yukikaze achieved the goal of serving Krowell later.

And found in Krowell, and in himself, in his own feelings, that were as stiffled as Krowell's even though Yukikaze had no Raphael seal as an excuese... found more than he's bargained for.

Yukikaze had never been loyal before. Except only to his mom. He never planned to be loyal, truly loyal, to anybody else. But slowly he's realised that he liked living with Krowell, even the almost indifferent, strangely almost emotionless, dreamless Krowell. That he liked living with him. Talking with him, reading with him, almost kissing him. Somehow, he found out, that even he, a child of Warsfeil family, could enjoy life, if 'life' meant 'Krowell's company.' And so, he decided to be selfish, for the first time in his life, because before, the only reason he planned not to die was mother, and he didn't exactly consider that selfish. Now Yukikaze wanted to live for Krowell and for Krowell-sama only, and die for Krowell-sama if need be, and for the first time, he's realised: maybe even my Soul has God-given three Dreams. That realisation hit him hard and for the first time in his life, he felt glad. Glad to have met Krowell-sama.

When Krowell was fourteen, and Yukikaze seventeen, everything changed - superficially. Krowell was Verloren, who knew? Though somehow, that didn't shock Yukikaze. Someone who wasn't a human, and hadn't been a Warsfeil - well, Yukikaze always thought that Krowell had to be a Ghost, or Michael, or Raphael, or, failing that, Verloren. So Yukikaze still considered himself less surprised by the news than teenage Krowell was.

And so, Yukikaze followed Krowell, later called Ayanami, to Barsburg, and to Barsburg military, and really, it made no difference to Yukikaze where he was following Krowell. Even learning how to use Barsburg language, and sometimes pretending to like or respect Barsburg Empire and its people, was all for Ayanami-sama.

Sometimes, Yukikaze has moments of gripping fear, when his mother's teaching kick in. After all, by following God's nemesis, doesn't he ban himself from Heavens and from reincarnation? Wouldn't that be how that would work?

He has other fears sometimes, too, most of them not relating directly to himself because the truth is, Yukikaze still dislikes thinking about himself - it's one lingering influence of his biological family. No, he prefers being concerned with Ayanami, or Black Hawks, or Barsburg, or Raggs instead, and it's mostly true, and only a tiny bit of it is his own escapism. A small bit, that he sometimes even realises and gets embarassed or irritated at himself about. And the fear is quite simple: he loves all Black Hawks (more strongly than he does humans, but less then Krowell/Ayanami-sama himself), but he always has one doubt: if Ayanami suddenly was not Verloren (again... well, in a way, what with lack of memories), would all the Black Hawks still be as loyal to him? He thinks Hyuuga would be, but he's never very certain how well he knows Hyuuga, anyway,  which is funny (he thinks) when considering that if Hyuuga ever wanted, for example, to kill Yukikaze, Yukikaze would just let him because he'd think Hyuuga must have some good and beneficial for them all reason for it.

Somewhere deep inside, Yukikaze still believes God can't deny him Heavens. After all, Yukikaze was following his own three Wishes, he was certain of that.

As for contacts with other people, people who aren't Ayanami or Ayanami's men, and therefore, people who, in Yukikaze's mind, don't belong to Yukikaze, Kaze is usually very friendly, as far as he's concerned, though, unless something catches his interest, it's an indifferent, fake, polite friendliness, which he taught himself as a servant in the palace, and before that, as a help in church.

Yukikaze would say he loves people, and he'd be honest about that - he cares about people as much as an average person cares for, say, dogs, or cats, of flying cats. But we're talking about average persona who'd kill several cats to save one human and not feel bad about that at all. So, yeah - his love for people who belong to God and not to Yukikaze himself is dependant on circumstances. It's honest, though, in it's own, shallow way.

Appearance: Dark-haired, wears glasses, tall. Pic here:

Abilities:

Sword combat - he's not a master swordsman in his own opinion, as he was never fascinated by sword fighting, but he'd say he can fight a bit, at least. Actually, well, his standards are a bit high due to the fact that he keeps comparing his sword skills with Hyuuga's. Without that comparison - well, Yukikaze was almost at the top of his class when it comes to sword fighting skills.

Manipulation Zaiphon (I have exact headcanons for his Zaiphon, not sure how much to write here, but I can add it in).

In Tu Shanshu, his Zaiphon abilities would probably be severely limited, but I'm certain if they would be completely gone. Maybe partly, but I guess they can be gone, too, depending on what spiritual powers there are.

Inventory: His two swords (there are two swords on his grave, so I'm not sure if I'd even call him having swords a headcanon), a photograph of thirteen year old Krowell that he keeps sewn into his uniform, uniform, glasses

Soul Gem: Snow Quartz

Good morning, everyone. My name’s second lieutenant Yukikaze of the Black Hawks and I’m 24 years old.

I’d like to express my most sincere gratitude to everyone who’s helped me on my previous short stay here. I don’t exactly know how long ago it has been, as I have spent the time outside this world in a world on a rather different plane of existence. And therefore, my apologies if people whom I am thanking to are no longer here.

[bows, seemingly very deferentially]

I would also like to thank – preferably in person – whoever brought me here. You see, I can no longer go home, I think, for certain small reasons, and so, it’s good that I have been so kindly invited here. So please, point me to my gracious host or hosts so I can express all I’ve just said in person. I’d be most obliged.
[bows again]

[in the world he comes from, anybody who knows him even a little – well, maybe a bit more than a little – knows that to Yukikaze, a bow is an utterly meaningless gesture, twenty times more meaningless than even, for example, a simple handshake – a bow is what he trained himself to do in front of strangers in order to pretend to be polite to them – though his definition of ‘a stranger’ might be a bit broader than some people’s. But that’s not visible here unless you know him a little or can read his mind.]

Additional Information - Canon OCs:

Character Premise:

Yukikaze is Ayanami’s late Begleiter, who died protecting Ayanami during the war with Raggs Kingdom. Apart from the fact that Ayanami loved Yukikaze, that’s mostly all that’s known about Yukikaze in canon. Oh, and that he was Krowell’s aid / servant back in Raggs Kingdom. Also, my headcanon that Yukikaze's not a Warsfeil himself is supported imo by the fact that Yukikaze died from normal fatal (for human) injury, and well, if he was a Warsfeil, he wouldn't have died so easily - primarily thanks to Warsfeil regenerative abilities, and well, one can't even say that he would be left to die, because Ayanami certainly wouldn't leave him to die.

Canon Relationships?: Ayanami's Begeiter, practically married for all intents and purposes, just not formally married, heh. As for Hyuuga, he's a dear friend, as far as Kaze is concerned, at least. Though he knows that Hyuuga might or might not be envious. He wouldn't mind dying for Hyuuga someday, too, because he thinks that it would be indirectly dying for Ayanami.

Other (I don’t have time to check where to put it): If possible, Yukikaze will remember his 4th Wall Visit.
